ALTRUSA INTERNATIONAL, of TIFFIN, OHIO
Regular Meeting September 20, 2011

                The first noon meeting was held at Allen Eiry Senior Center with 12 members present. President, Joyce Lather, called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance and the Altrusa Grace. Roll call was taken with volunteer hours reported. The secretary’s report was approved and treasurers report given.
                Wendy Stallard spoke about having a speaker to explain the Scudder fund, $11,319.48, to the club members.  Should we be using the monies now to help with scholarships, the community needs and leaving $5,000.00 in reserve?  
                The Hospice Festivals of Trees will be held on November 11th.  Mary Lou Harrison offered to provide an auction item in Altrusa’s name.
                Karen Knaur asked us to continue saving the toilet paper cardboard rolls for the SCYC. She sent out pictures, via internet, that Sara, activities director at the youth center, sent on the projects using the rolls. Also a signup sheet was sent around for the Thursday night activities at the youth center. She also suggested that we send books and buddies to the Patchworks House and for CASA.
                Our group is in charge of serving lunch for Habitat on October 1st. A signup sheet was sent around.
                Sandy Yarbough spoke about ‘Make a Difference Day’ on October 21st. We will be meeting at the library in the Kalnow room. Ten librarians from the Seneca county schools have been invited to attend and receive the $200.00 check for their schools. Mary Lou Harrison is checking on grandparent’s day for the schools.           
Committee Reports:
Communications;
                Rayella Engle is having chemo treatment, remember her with cards and prayers.
Fund Raising;
                Gloria Fraley said the bus trip to Chicago is ready. Next year she is going to get two buses and make accommodations for couples.  Brochures were passed out to promote new members.
Membership;
                At our next meeting we will vote on and install one new member, Christian Waldsmith, and reinstate Donna McConahay.
 Sunshine;
                Jan Anspaugh is leaving for Florida. Contact her at 419-618-1542.

                The committee for the 2013 conference will be on Monday, October 3rd at Gloria Fraley’s house. There will be a board meeting at 6:00 on October 4th before the business meeting.

BUSINESS MEETING JULY 19, 2011

            President Joyce Lather brought the meeting to order. The meeting was held at the Commission on Aging with 11 members present and one emeritus member. 
            A bill was presented from the post office; a motion was made by Karen Knaur to pay the bill and second by Nancy Frederick, motion carried. 
Committee Reports:
Service; Bereavement Camp at Hospice went very well and was good PR. Students at the SCYC painted wood chair planters to give to the veterans at the           Veterans Home in Sandusky.  We will be making a trip to Sandusky in August. Karen Knaur asked for volunteers to help categorize the books at the youth center.
Activity report; Volunteer hours now has three categories; Altrusa hours, organization hours and individual hours.
Fund raining; Gloria Fraley spoke on the bus trip, 12 of the 14 rooms are sold. We still need eight people to complete the last two rooms.
            Karen Knaur has purchased book bags, two boys and two girls.  Gloria Fraley made a motion for the club members to supply items and bring them to Home Saving, Fort Ball RV or to the next meeting on August 2nd, a second was made by Mary Lou Harrison, motion carried.  The book bags will go to Noble school.
            Sandy Yarbrough made a motion to transfer $500.00 from the operating account to the service account for Seneca County service projects as needed, a second was made by Harriett White, motion carried. 
            It was discussed to re-instate two meeting through the summer months except for July. Gloria Fraley made a motion to change the monthly meeting, a second was made by Jan Anspaugh, motion carried.
            We will no longer have a member bring  raffle gift each month, if the operating account needs money we will have a 50/50 raffle at a meeting. 
            There was a discussion about having lunch meetings. This was tabled until next month.
            Joyce Lather presented as Emertius certificate to Opal Sendelbach, thanked her for her years of service to Altrusa and encouraged her to continue to attend Altrusa meeting.
Elva Aller gave a Memorial Service for Mary Jane Nevius who was a charter member. She passed away in May.
            The next meeting will be on August 2nd at 7:00 at the Commission on Aging, a board meeting at 6:00.

Business meeting August 2, 2011

The August 2nd meeting was brought to order by President Joyce Lather .  The meeting was held at the Commission on Aging with 13 members present and one emeritus member.   We welcomed Donna McConahay back as a member.
            Harriett White and Joyce Lather audited the service and operating checkbooks and everything was in order. The only thing brought up was, always have a voucher filled out when presenting a bill to be paid. Joyce noted that we only need 1/3rd of membership for a quorum.  
            Joyce read a thank you note from Hospice for our participation in the Bereavement Camp Luncheon held in June. We were invited to the Springfield Altrusa Club to play Scrabble as part of their fund raiser. With such a short notice no one was able to go.

Committee Reports:
            Community Service, Nancy Steinmetz presented the projected budget to the board; $500.00 GED, $200.00 Seneca County Youth Center, $500.00 for a family, $100.00 Veterans and $2700.00 for the city and county school libraries. Wendy Stallard discussed the projected budget. The board made a motion to accept the budget and a second was made by Gloria Fraley, motion carried.
            Membership, Wendy Stallard presented to the board to have the second meeting of the month at lunch time from 12:00 – 1:00. The board made a motion to accept the time change and a second was made by Donna McConahay, motion carried.
            Fund Raising, Gloria Fraley reported that all the tickets for the bus trip to Chicago are sold. There will be a 50/50 raffle, bingo and basket raffle on the bus to raise money. Need the money in as soon as possible
           
            Karen Knaur made arrangements to go to the Veterans home in Sandusky on August 24th  There are nine veterans from Seneca county. She sent a paper around for volunteers to go or prepare snacks.
            The next meeting will be August 16th at the Commission on Aging at 7:00.
